Laura Story - "Blessings" Lyrics
We pray for blessings
We pray for peace
Comfort for family, protection while we sleep
We pray for healing, for prosperity
We pray for Your mighty hand to ease our suffering
All the while, You hear each spoken need
Yet love us way too much to give us lesser things
Cause what if Your blessings come through raindrops
What if Your healing comes through tears
What if a thousand sleepless nights
Are what it takes to know You’re near
What if trials of this life are Your mercies in disguise
We pray for wisdom
Your voice to hear
And we cry in anger when we cannot feel You near
We doubt Your goodness, we doubt Your love
As if every promise from Your Word is not enough
All the while, You hear each desperate plea
And long that we'd have faith to believe
Cause what if Your blessings come through raindrops
What if Your healing comes through tears
What if a thousand sleepless nights
Are what it takes to know You’re near
And what if trials of this life are Your mercies in disguise
When friends betray us
When darkness seems to win
We know the pain reminds this heart
That this is not, this is not our home
Cause what if Your blessings come through raindrops
What if Your healing comes through tears
And what if a thousand sleepless nights
Are what it takes to know You’re near
What if my greatest disappointments
Or the aching of this life
Is the revealing of a greater thirst this world can’t satisfy
And what if trials of this life
The rain, the storms, the hardest nights
Are Your mercies in disguise
I heard this song several weeks ago & love the lyrics. Wanted to share it with you, if you haven't heard it before. Beautiful...
Well, tomorrow is the BIG DAY - the start of my Chemo treatments. I will admit that I am a little nervous...not because of the treatments - the IV in my arm, 6 hours in a chair, etc, etc.- but just the unknown. Steve is going with me & Sara will meet us there. I don't know if they both will stay, but it is nice to have the support. Talked to a friend over the weekend who's mother is going through the same thing - her's was Stage I when it started. She is taking the same chemo drug that I will be taking, is 85 years old and has not had any problems - no nausea, no tiredness, no problems at all. Hopefully I will be the same.
She has been through chemo several times...the chemo works - then the cancer shows up again in tiny places, so they start another round.
I don't want to be on drugs or chemo the rest of my life, but if that's what it takes to have a "rest of my life", then I can manage.
I will do the chemo tomorrow, start on the steroids for 5 days & then 10 days out, will go just for blood work & have to come straight back home. No shopping that day :) - each 10 days will be my "low" point, as far as my immune system goes, so I can't be around anyone. I don't know if it will only be for that day or for several days after, but I guess they will let me know about that & the other million questions I have, when I show up in the morning. Dr. Parker's nurse went over everything with me last month, when I thought I was starting the treatments then - and I was trying to absorb everything she was saying, so I wouldn't forget anything & of course, now a month later, I've forgotten everything she said!
I plan on taking photos to add to the blog, so everyone can kind of walk through this with me...see where I am & hopefully see some of the people that will be taking care of me.
I will do 3 treatments - one every 3 weeks to start - then, I guess another PET scan, to see how things are progressing & then Dr. Parker will decide on another 3 or 5 treatments, depending on how I'm doing. I'm hoping that at the end of these 3, he will find nothing left of the cancer...wouldn't that be wonderful??
I know God can cure me whenever he wants...before I start tomorrow...at the end of 3...or any time after that.. I can't "fix" this part of my life, so I am leaving this in the hands of the Dr., the staff & most importantly with God...to heal me & make me whole again. To start the last 3rd of my life.
The first 3rd of my life was spent growing up, getting saved, moving VERY far away from God and then starting to work my way back.
The second 3rd of my life was spent raising a family, moving closer to God & thinking that I was "doing ok" with my faith.
The third 3rd of my life will be spent following Him more closely than I ever have, using this time in my life as my testimony to God's love & caring and working more for Him & the reason I was put on Earth. I have SO much left to do & I am praying for that whole 3rd (another 30 years...or more) to be able to fulfill what I want & need to do.
In my quiet time this morning, I read the devotion books & Bible verses for today, but also read on for tomorrow, since I figured I wouldn't have much time in the morning.
Here are the Bible verses for tomorrow - June 1st -
"For I am the Lord, your God, who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you." Isaiah 41:13
and
"Give all your worries and cares to God, for He cares about what happens to you." 1 Peter 5:7 NLT
and this:
"I am involved in each moment of your life. I have carefully mapped out each inch of your journey through this day, even though much of it may feel hap-hazard.
Stay conscious of Me as you go through this day, remembering that I never leave your side. Let the Holy Spirit guide you step by step, protecting you from unnecessary trails and equipping you to get through whatever must be endured. Thus the Light of My Presence shines on you, giving you Peace and Joy that circumstances cannot touch." (Jesus Calling - June 1st)
What an amazing God that knew from before I was born what tomorrow would be like for me...had a friend make sure I got this little book & placed these exact verses on this day (June 1st) for me to read!! How can I not believe that He will heal me & make me whole again??
I have been so blessed with friends & family ~ calling, sending cards, praying and taking care of me through these 2 1/2 months, since I got the diagnosis. I know these next few months will be the same.
To tell others about the family of God & what they mean to me and about what a loving, understanding & caring God that I serve ~ I cannot ask for a better testimony than that ~ to be able to share with others during this - the next 3rd of my life.
Please pray for me tomorrow...and for Steve & Sara as they sit with me, for my boys, Justin & Christopher and his wife Brittany & sweet baby Emma, who are all away from me ~ as they go through this with us from "long distance".
